I think that perfection cannot be truly achieved through the genetic modifications of our species.

There
is bound to stir the harmony of any society no matter what happens that is why problems are said to be
never ending because it does never end. Humans are bound to desire more and more to the point that it
would satisfy its urges for a while and then proceeding on to needing something more as knowledge,
power and greed continuously surround us. People will try to become better than others and the means
to do this are not always in a good way.

Assuming there are methods to remove “bad traits” from people, it is not certain that it would lead to
true peace and harmony because it is possible for people to disagree, not consent or protest against it.
People might feel that it strips them of their individuality or it might be opposite of their beliefs or just
have a different opinion themselves which will create strife and will cause another problem.

The subjectivity of good and bad as well as the desirability of a traits makes it difficult to judge since
there is no universal decision as to what can be good and/or desirable. One person might see that being
religious is a desirable trait but others might dislike it. Even kindness may be interpreted as someone
with a hidden agenda which means that if something is good, it is good for everyone.

Having only one race can cause different factions to group together that has similar characteristics
and/or goals which will cause another division in the people. The modifications of genes are successful
but what about the equal distribution of traits. One person is tall but the other one is slightly taller, this
small difference can make a big divide between slightly better looking, slightly more intelligent, slightly
stronger, a separation from being slightly different.

Religion is also a great divide for people which holds no genetic relation to humans and beliefs are one
of the drivers of humans for their actions. Scientist can’t just cut-off the “belief gene” or insert a
“universal religion gene” to everyone and force them to have a single or no religion. Other religious
people or group can be seen the technology as “tampering with the works of god” which might kindle a
fight in between.

I think that this scenario is the next step of our evolution as a species and presents a case that is truly
intriguing, for better or for worse. I think that it is a real possibility based on the significant leaps of our
technology it is just a matter of time. I said that perfection cannot be attained but I do believe that we all
should strive to attain it because it is the way of how can we, as a species, improve in different aspects
of our lives and incentivizes us to learn more and further improve. We cannot be perfect; have true
peace and harmony and we cannot be truly unified as a whole but that does not mean we should stop
trying because trying is the way to improve for the better of mankind.
