When you travel abroad, you have to get used to a new style life.
The first thing I noticed when
I was in London was they don’t have shutters in the windows; a curtain is enough, no matter what kind of room I was in. No blinds at all. I didn’t understand because in the morning the sun came very early, and it was annoying. I was very surprised as shutters are to protect from the weather and the UK is a windy and rainy country. What happened in Amsterdam was the same; I spent four days visiting this city, I used to love walking on streets in canals and one of the odd things I’ve encountered was the absence of blinds in its windows. The locals told me that shutters are outdated. I was aware that external shutters were very common centuries ago but nowadays nobody use it. What it is most important to bear in mind is the fact that the number of hours a day there is lower than in other city and they have to take profit from them.
