SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

In this course, basic principles of alternative energies, considered emerging, are
offered.

DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE

In this course students are offered the basics knowledge allowing them to identify,
understand the transformation process, and quantify the energy potential for different
forms of alternative energies.

JUSTIFICATION
Due to increasing energy demand and the impending shortage of fossil resources, it is
necessary for engineers to know and become familiar with alternative energy
technologies.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The student must know the fundamentals for understanding the different forms of
energy presented in nature, how they could be recovered, the amount available, and
determine the possibility of recovery.

COURSE OUTCOME (CO)

At the end of the course the student will be able to:
1. Understand how different forms of alternative energy are presented.
2. Determine how they can be recovered according to the form they are presented.
3. Quantify the amount of energy.
4. Create models that allow them to determine the probability of recovery.

METHODOLOGY
 Oral Lectures of theoretical principles of the different types of alternative
energies
 Oral presentation by the students of the subject assigned.
 Book consultation, internet and journals research, about proposed topics and
presentation of synthetic review orally or in writing.
