Now, let’s compare the three forms of verb to be.


Notice the differences between the affirmative,
the negative and the interrogative:

You're a student. She's Japanese.

You aren’t a student. She isn’t Japanese.

Are you a student? Is she Japanese?


-Yes, I am. -Yes, she is.
-No, I’m not. -No, she isn’t.

They're intelligent.

They aren’t intelligent.

Are they intelligent?


-Yes, they are.
-No, they aren´t.
