NEW NORMS POST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

As the new epidemic crisis has arrived, people nowadays have to suit their
own in this new norm. People who once don't frequently wash their hands and
maintain their hygiene are starting to learn little by little during this period. Of course,
nobody wants to die and have to live a life as usual. We're saving the world by staying
at home.

So what are coronaviruses? SARS-CoV-2 belongs to a family of single-

stranded RNA viruses, a common type of virus that affects mammals, birds, and
reptiles. It is currently unclear where the virus has come from. Originally, the virus
was understood to have originated in Wuhan and subsequently spread from animal to
human. Some research has claimed that the cross-species transmission may be
between snake and human. However, this claim has been disputed. The coronavirus
affects the respiratory tract, common presenting symptoms include fever and dry
cough, with some patients presenting with respiratory symptoms such as sore throat,
nasal congestion, malaise, headache, and myalgia or even struggling for breath. In
severe cases, the coronavirus can cause kidney failure, severe acute respiratory
syndrome, kidney failure, pneumonia, and death.

Some of us may think that it is kind of bored when staying at home. This is
because some people usually stick to their daily routines such as going to work and
school. As far as we know, there are seven days a week and an average of the people
are busy doing their daily routines during the weekdays which is Monday to Friday.
The employee spent most of the time working and students spent their time getting
knowledge in school. The sudden loss of these daily routines due to the pandemic has
cause disturbance of schedule to most of the people. Forcing many of us to stay at
home, doing the things that we don't usually do.

Due to COVID-19, people started to have less interaction with others. We

have to social distance between each other and stay at a distance of about 1 meter. But
thankfully, technology has played an important role in this new norm. We may look
isolated together, but technology nowadays helps us to be connected from here to
there. For example, we can use Skype and Facetime to have real-time face-to-face
interaction with others. Furthermore, we can also use social media such as Facebook
and Instagram to get to know what are your friends or families doing. We can get to
know their daily activities when they posted some posts or "stories" on their social
media account. It may provide some comfort to know that thousands of people are
going through the same thing, and as in China. Memes, TikTok videos, Facebook or
Instagram stories and essays about living in isolation will all become part of the
culture. This makes us feel more connected to each other than before because of the
internet.

Next, COVID-19 has caused many people to be jobless. We all know that we have to
stay at home during the Movement Control Order (MCO) to reduce the number of
infections. Many parents do not have the income to support the whole family. Thus,
this results in the disruption of the world economy. Making the world economy
unstable. The government also spent some time and money to help the jobless local
people.

Finally, we all know that there is still no specific treatment for COVID-19.
Although some vaccines can be developed to treat viruses, there is no vaccine
developed yet and the vaccine for this virus to develop may take about 12 to 18
months. The only thing, for now, is to let nature heal this infection naturally or we
humans try our best to reduce the number of coronavirus infections.

However, we can reduce the numbers of coronavirus infection which need the
cooperation of every single people all around the world. For example, wash our hands
frequently with soap or hand sanitizer. Our hands are mostly in contact with peoples
and everything all around us. As a result, it will reduce the number of microorganisms
or germs on our hand and it won't spread easily to others. Next, we have to wear a
mask when going out somewhere. People who are experiencing cough and flu are
advised to wear a mask when going out to reduce the virus to be spread to others.
Always keep our basic hygiene.

Moreover, always maintain "social distancing" keeping at least 1 metres

between yourself and others. If some of them are coughing and sneezing, and avoid
touching your face, eyes and mouth with unwashed hands. Furthermore, prevent
unnecessary and unprotected contact with animals such as sick animals and be sure to
thoroughly wash hands once touched the animals. Furthermore, avoid social
gatherings, public transportation, limit nonessential travel and work from home.
Furthermore, the lifestyle of students who are studying in school has changed to
online studying. For example, teachers can educate their students about a subject
through online classes such as Google Classroom and Zoom.

Finally, most of us gain a myriad of lessons from the epidemic crisis as we

found out that there a lot of activities that we can do at home. For example, some of
us may try doing the things we didn't do before. Therefore, this helps us to gain
different kinds of experiences which can be used in the future and benefits a lot to us.
Next, we also learned that time is precious. Before the epidemic crisis, we are too
busy with our schedules and it made us realizes that some of those free time can be
used in so many different activities.

In my opinion, everyone plays an important role in reducing the number of

coronavirus infection. Although the virus looks strong, when all of us united together
we can fight against this virus. In conclusion, the coronavirus has changed our
lifestyle on how we work, play and learn. Besides, we have to cooperate to prevent
the number of coronavirus infections from rising. One for all, all for one. I hope that
the virus will vanish from our planet once and for all so we can live just like the old
days.
