LIFE AFTER DEATH – part 2

How do I get ready for it
- By Dr Haifaa Younis

Last week we learn that the only thing with no doubt will happen to muslim or non muslim is
death. Ever soul would taste the death. After the soul taken out from the body they will lived in barzakh.
Barzakh also called as middle life, the barrier between this life and hereafter.

All people would died when The Trumpet blown for the first time (except whom Allah will). After
that they will rise up again the second time The Trumpet blown (Az-zumar 39:68) and will gather at
mahsyar. Mahsyar is the place that everybody will gather, from the day Allah created this earth until
the last one that Allah created.

At mahsyar, all people will be in shock. They will run away from his brother, his mother, his
father, his wife or children. That day everybody will busy with their own business to the point they
won’t remember their loved one (Abasa 80:33-37).

In mahsyar everybody will get the book and their privat interview with Allah swt. After that they
will be rewarded or punished. Angel Rakib and Atid will be the witness of all the question. At that time
nobody can make any excuses.

“The judgment will be passed on all with fairness. None will be wronged. Every soul will be paid
in full for its deeds, for Allah knows best what they have done. ” (Az Zumar 39:69-70)

There will be two destination after the judgment, hell fire or jannah. Disbeliever will push or
driven to the hell. Allah describe it in surah An-Nisaa (4: 56) the punishment they will get in hell fire. It’s
suffocating. They will burn complety and their skin will replace. Sains proof that after skin burn heavly
there will not be any feeling of pain, that’s why in this verse Allah said that that will replace again and
again after burnt completely.

“Surely those who reject Our signs, We will cast them into the Fire. Whenever their skin is burnt
completely, We will replace it so they will ˹constantly˺ taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is
Almighty, All-Wise.” (An-Nisa 4:56)

People with taqwa who come prepared on that day will be rewarded with Jannah. The door of
Jannah also will open gradually so they won’t get scared of it (Az-Zumar 39:74). They will greet with
salaam. And Jannah will give them whatever they need.

What’s Jannah?

Jannah is a reward for those who believe in Allah and doing good deeds. No eye has ever seen
and no one ever heard what inside of Jannah. Because it’s beyond us. Our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
describe in Jannah there will be tent made of a hollowed pearl.
Abu Musa reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, in Paradise are
two gardens with silver vessels and two gardens with golden vessels. Nothing comes between
people looking at their Lord except the cloak of greatness over His face in the Garden of Eden. In
Paradise is a tent made of hollow pearls, the breadth of which is sixty miles. In each corner is a
family and they do not see the others, while the believer roams among them.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhī
2527).

Whoever have believe in Allah will enter Jannah. But, we have to remember there’s thousands
of level or degree in Jannah. And the highest level in Jannah is Firdaus. It’s for people who fight for the
sake of Allah (jihad). So ask Allah for Fir’daus.

The Prophet (pbuh) said, "Whoever believes in Allah and His Apostle offers prayers perfectly and
fasts (the month of) Ramadan then it is incumbent upon Allah to admit him into Paradise,
whether he emigrates for Allah's cause or stays in the land where he was born." They (the
companions of the Prophet) said, "O Allah's Messenger (pbuh)! Should we not inform the people
of that?" He said, "There are one-hundred degrees in Paradise which Allah has prepared for
those who carry on Jihad in His Cause. The distance between every two degrees is like the
distance between the sky and the Earth, so if you ask Allah for anything, ask Him for the Firdaus,
for it is the last part of Paradise and the highest part of Paradise, and at its top there is the
Throne of Beneficent, and from it gush forth the rivers of Paradise." (Sahih al-Bukhari 7423)

What do we do to enter Jannah?

1. Make dua for us to get to Jannah. We don’t know who will make dua for us, so make dua for
ourself. Don’t despair in Allah mercy, even though we know we are sinner. Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) teach us this dua.
‘Allaahumma innee as-aluka al – Jannah, wa maa qarraba ilayhaa min qawl aw ‘amal,
wa Audhubika min an-Naar wa maa qarraba ilayhaa min qawl aw ‘amal.
(O Allaah, I ask of You for Paradise and that which brings me closer to it of statements or
actions. And I seek refuge with You from the Hellfire and that which takes me closer to it
of statements or actions.)

2. Pair faith with righteous actions

If we want to enter Jannah, we have to sincerity, internally, love Allah swt.
Sahl ibn Hanif reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever
sincerely asks Allah for martyrdom, Allah will give him the status of a martyr even if he
dies in his bed.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1909)

3. Doing good deeds

a. Perform wudhu perfectly, even it’s difficult. If you do that Allah will remove your sins and
will elevate your degree in Jannah.
b. Walking plenty to masjid.
c. Stay to wait salah after salah.
d. Doing lots of sojood (salah).
e. Sponsor an orphan.
‘The Prophet (saw) said, “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in
Paradise like this,“and he (saw) held his two fingers together to illustrate’. (Bukhari)

f. Build mosque
The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said, “Whoever builds a mosque, desiring thereby Allah’s
pleasure, Allah builds for him the like of it in paradise.” (Bukhari)
