2.- Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is defined as illness caused by a novel coronavirus
called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2; formerly called 2019-
nCoV), which was first identified amid an outbreak of respiratory illness cases in Wuhan City,
Hubei Province, China. It was initially reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) on
December 31, 2019. On January 30, 2020, the WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak a global
health emergency.

Most common symptoms:


- Fever
- Cough
- Tiredness
- loss of taste or smell
Less common symptoms:
- sore throat
- headache
- aches and pains
- diarrhea
- a rash on skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes
- red or irritated eyes
Serious symptoms:
- difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- loss of speech or mobility, or confusion
- chest pain

- SUPPLEMENTAL OXYGEN
- NEBULIZATION/ NEBULIZER
- Endotracheal Intubation. a procedure by which a tube is inserted through the mouth down into
the trachea (the large airway from the mouth to the lungs) Endotracheal intubation and
ventilation supports a COVID-19 patient's breathing so the body can survive as the immune
system fights the virus.
- Mechanical Ventilation. A treatment to help a person breathe when they find it difficult or are
unable to breathe on their own. A mechanical ventilator pushes airflow into the patient's lungs to
help them breathe.
6. PROMOTIVE
- Advise patient to eat healthy diet.
- Assist the patient with passive range of motion exercises
- Teach the significant others about the different passive range of motion exercises
- Advise patient to limit physically activities.
- Instruct the patient and significant others about the side effects of treatment regimen
- Tell the significant others about the risk of non- compliance to medications
- Encourage patient to do deep breathing exercises to enhance circulation Provide comfort
measures
7. PREVENTIVE
- Assist patient to have her daily personal hygiene to promote cleanliness Educate patient
and significant other on ways to prevent the spread of disease. Maintain clean and safe
environment
- Educate patient about managing anxiety.
- Advise patient to have adequate rest.
