Equipment needed- When facilitating and participating in this activity via zoom you must

have a computer/laptop, tablet/iPad, or a smart device such as an iPhone or galaxy. A safe

and quiet space. In a classroom setting the participant would just need themselves and a

comfortable setting and in a comfortable sitting upright in their chair and an open mind.

Activity Description

 First you must get in a comfortable position sitting as upright in your chair as possible.

 Clear your mind from any negativity as you begin to free your mind to allow this guided

meditation to be as effective as possible

 Fully participate in guided meditation to alleviate stress, anxiety, and other factors that

may hinder you to be able to participate fully in activity.

 Allow meditation process to relieve stress, anxiety, and tension within the body so that

you feel a sense of relief afterwards.

Primary social interaction pattern(s) (activity analysis) – For this activity it allows the

participant to be fully engaged in a mindfulness meditation process that relieves stress,

anxiety, and other feelings they deal with on an everyday basis. For my participant that is

21 years old and has incomplete C-6 spinal cord injury it can help him to cope with

everyday stress, anxiety and even depression. I find this activity very effective as an early

base intervention so that he can progress on other activities that may cause him stress or

anxiety. He can revert to this practice or even download the “mindfulness app” so he can

track his progress and be able to deal with other activities and/or other stressors in his

life.

Adaptation: There are many adaptations to mindfulness meditations. There are a variety

of different meditations to fit everyone needs. Whether it be a body scan, anxiety relief

meditation, stress relief meditation, guided imagery, or meditation to reduce pain. For my

participant I feel like a mindfulness guided meditation will help relieve stress and anxiety

to help him cope with everyday stressors and anxiety.

Participant:  21-year-old man with an incomplete C 6 Spinal Cord Injury.

For an incomplete C-6 spinal cord injury it says that the participant may still have

cognitive and motor skills around injured area and above. I feel that the participant can

benefit from this guided mindfulness meditation and be able to utilize this in his everyday

life. This is great way to relieve stress/anxiety and promote wellness and positive healthy

lifestyle.
