Science

Science (from the Latin word scientia, meaning "knowledge") is a systematic

enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of
testable explanations and predictions about the universe.

Modern science is typically divided into three major branches

1. the natural sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, and physics), which study nature in
the broadest sense;
2. the social sciences (e.g., economics, psychology, and sociology), which study
individuals and societies;
3. the formal sciences (e.g., logic, mathematics, and theoretical computer
science), which study abstract concepts.
Belief
Belief is the state of mind in which a person thinks something to be the
case regardless of empirical evidence to prove that something is the case
with factual certainty.
Another way of defining belief sees it as a mental representation of an
attitude positively oriented towards the likelihood of something being true.

One of the shining example is the religious belief.

Religious belief refers to attitudes towards mythological, supernatural, or
spiritual aspects of a religion.

Science is less a body of ‘ facts’ than it is a method of establishing claims

about the universe.
How do we know things in
science
Experiments seek to control all (or almost all) variables
associated with a phenomenon
Observation of phenomena that can’t be controlled
(paleontology, cosmology, ethology) together with
reason
Evidence is reported in peer-reviewed journals available
to all
Best explanations are predictive
What is the
Scientific Method?
A process for experimentation that is used to explore
observations and answer questions.

Steps of the scientific method will help in focusing on

scientific question and work through observations and
data to answer the question as well as possible.
Reason behind beliefs
It's a distinction we learn as kids. But it turns out judging facts isn't nearly
as black-and-white as your third-grade teacher might have had you believe.

In reality, we rely on a biased set of cognitive processes to arrive at a given

conclusion or belief. This natural tendency to cherry pick and twist the facts
to fit with our existing beliefs is known as motivated reasoning—and we all
do it.

"It takes more information to make you believe something you don't want
to believe than something you do"
Magic in believing
There is a golden line that runs through all the
teachings and works for those who sincerely and
completely apply them. That thread can be named
in a single word as ‘Belief’. It is the same element
which causes people to be cured through mental
healing, enables others to climb the ladder of
success and get phenomenal results. Why Belief is a
miracle something that cannot be satisfactorily
explained but have no doubt about it. There is
genuine magic in believing .

How Did The Conflict Begin?
This conflict can be attributed to a period of rapid cultural and intellectual development
called the Renaissance. Beginning around 500 years ago in Europe, it led to Western, secular
values dominating the world, infusing liberal and atheistic attitudes into unprepared cultures.
Though many leaders rejected these values, some attempted to reinterpret scripture for
greater agreement with science. This led to disharmony in many world religions, where those
reluctant to change distanced themselves from reformers. As a result, old religions splintered
into new sects, each with its own interpretation of traditional beliefs.
Over the centuries, science has consistently provided further cause for panic, provoking
hostile reactions from religious believers. However, unlike traditional atheism, science never
intended to threaten religion.
Conflict between science and belief
The Big Bang vs Genesis
Many religious people claim that the universe just `popped into existence'. This criticism
is surprising because religionists believe God made the universe pop into existence.
Though some scientists might consider the `pop' theory, few to none would believe it
without sufficient evidence.

Evidence vs Miracles
Scientists and religious believers are both attracted to unexplained, miraculous
phenomena for different reasons. Scientists look for a natural cause and let their
curiosity drive them towards an answer. Religious believers see an opportunity to
reinforce their faith by declaring divine intervention.
Can science and belief go hand in hand ?
Here are some facts about oldest religion the SANATAN Dharma.

1. We are told about the creator lord Bramha and Protector lord Vishnu. Meanwhile
from big bang theory you get two particles collapsed i.e., Space and Time. Space is
like Bramha and Time is like Vishnu. The force which brought these particles
together called Lord Shiva.

2. We have mythological theories about atom and nuclear bombs in the name of
Brahmastra (a weapon used for complete destruction).

3. We have theory that only human body dies but not the spirit or soul which is in
agreement with law of thermodynamics that energy can neither be created nor be
destroyed.
Science brings to the light of day everything man
had believed sacred.
Technique takes possession of it and enslaves it.
