I am writing in regards to the online advertisement for a software development internship at your
company for the summer of 2022. As a fourth-year engineering student at Loras College, I am excited by
the prospect of gaining experience at a well-established organization within the Madison community.
My diligent work ethic and apt problem-solving abilities coupled with my educational background make
me a strong candidate for an entry level position at Epic.
Throughout my education, I have developed skills in interpersonal communication and active learning by
collaborating with teammates on projects and working independently with guidance from professors.
My academic coursework has provided me with a strong background to apply my skillset to software
development. I am experienced in programming (see resume for languages) including numerous coding
projects. My experience is highlighted by a coding project I undertook this year, in which I programmed
a solar powered boat model to run for a varying duration of time in accordance with the power output
of its energy source. This experience has prepared me to take on a real-world software development
project, which I hope will allow me to contribute to the field of healthcare in a meaningful way.
I am extremely excited by the opportunity to continue learning and expanding my knowledge beyond
the classroom. Working under the supervision of experienced colleagues on real-world software
applications would be an ideal scenario for me to enrich my knowledge base and develop as a
professional while simultaneously bringing value to a worthy employer.
Thank you for considering my application. I hope to further discuss how can be a valuable asset to your
team. You can reach me via email at zeke.smith@loras.edu.
Sincerely,
Zeke R. Smith
