Box 956 Jackson, MS 39205 Via facsimile only to 601-571 Auditor White: 1am in receipt of your October 12, 2021 letter to my client, Marcus Dupree. Please be advised that all future communication to my client should be directed to me. Neither Mr. Dupree, nor his foundation, will be making any payment in response to your demand. Make no mistake: Mr. Dupree earned the money he was paid, and he never had any reason to believe the money was being improperly spent by state officials. We therefore expect you will immediately stop insinuating to the public that Mr. Dupree somehow did not earn the money he was paid, and that you will issue a statement clearing him of any wrongdoing. Your position that Mr. Dupree should pay back the money he earned is like a fan, upset with the head coach’s decision to run the ball, demanding that the running back pay back his salary That's not right and it’s not fair. The root of your issue appears to be the decisions made by your fellow state officials and others as to how to spend the money Mr. Dupree eared. I suggest you take that up with them. In fact, Mr, Dupree is happy to help you do just that. Mr. Dupree loves and is committed to the people of the State of Mississippi.
