Introduction
Comprising of 8 different lengths of leg extension & a hydraulic power pack which simply pin together at the
joints, RMD Kwikform’s 254 bracing system is used with trench sheets or sheet piles to create small to
medium cofferdams and for the construction of manholes, chambers & tanks. The unique twin pin
arrangement at the joints between components provides full moment capacity at any position along the
span as well as an integral shear stop for knee brace props.
Suspended from the trench sheets with restraining chains, the 254 bracing frames are able to clear span up
to 13.0m in both directions.

Design to EN Standards
The RMD Kwikform 254 Brace has been designed in accordance with EN14653.
To facilitate a simplified scheme design using established permissible load methods, load performance data
in this document is displayed as an ‘Allowable Working Load’. Should Limit State Design be required, the
Design Resistance may be obtained by multiplying the Allowable working load by 1.5.

254 Brace Power Pack 400kN (HFU25400) weight 798kg

Used in conjunction with 254 Brace Extensions to support
trench sheets or sheet piles in small to medium sized
excavations.
The Power Pack consists of 2 fabricated steel box
sections (an inner and an outer) with integral lifting
& suspension points. The inner section hydraulically
extends by 900mm.

Double Acting Bucket Pump (VAU10002) weight 18.0kg

A double acting hydraulic pump used to extend or retract each of the

254 Brace leg assemblies in turn.

Note: The pump is normally supplied with a residue of hydraulic fluid

within the tank. Supplementary shoring fluid will be supplied in litre
bottles for use with the pump. (Mixing instructions for the ratio of
shoring fluid to water will be dependent on temperature conditions
and will be specified on the shoring fluid packaging).
