 Record production of 150.5 million tonnes estimated for Kharif 2021-22
 0.6% increase in food grain output over the 4 th advance estimate for kharif 2020-
21 season
 12.71 million tonnes higher production than the average food grain production in
last 5 years (2015-16 to 2019-20)
 107.04 million tonnes Kharif rice; 9.21 MT higher than the 5 years average
 Higher rice output will help India increase the staple's shipments. India looks
likely to account for as much as 45 % of global rice exports in 2021
 Despite a higher acreage under maize, the output is seen marginally lower at
21.24 mt (21.44) on a drop in yields
 The seasonal deficit in monsoon till date is pegged at 3% below normal at 810.6
mm, while a delayed monsoon could pose a challenge to kharif harvest, it can
brighten up the prospects for the rabi crops
