PHILIPPINES, MANILA (April 28, 2021) – According to a new report released today by
the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Philippine economy would grow this year and
next year due to increased public spending on infrastructure and social assistance,
continued to improve progress in the country's coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination
drive, and a steady recovery in the global economy.
The Philippine economy is expected to grow by 4.5 percent in 2021 and 5.5 percent in
2022, according with ADB's annual economic report. Public and industry confidence will
be restored as a result of the increasing success in the country's vaccination program,
though concerns about how the pandemic will work out nationally and locally can
threaten economic prospects.
