Some people say that schools should concentrate on teaching students

academic subjects that will be useful for their future careers. Other people say
that subjects such as music and sports are also necessary.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

People have different views about subjects which are taught in school. While some
people believe that a number of core subject which are useful for student’s careers
should be focused in educational program, others tend towards the viewpoint that non-
academic subjects such as music and sports also play a vital role. I would argue that it
is necessary for students to learn all the subjects in their curriculum.

On the one hand, it seems that almost people attend school on purpose to look for a
best career for them in the future. Consequently, subjects which are taught at school
must serve the purpose of pursuing higher education and finding a job. Nowadays,
achievement that students gained in academic field has become one of the competitive
criteria among competitors and it is emphasized by higher education institutions as
well as by employers.

On the other hand, music and sports, known as non-academic subjects, play a
supportive role in helping students to achieve the jobs they want. Subjects involved in
athletic and artistic fields may cultivate qualities such as collaborative skill and
creativity - the attributes which are extremely noticed by recruiters in this era of
technology. Moreover, students who have an aptitude for music or sports can be found
via the teaching process at school. Gifted individuals also could not have the
opportunity to develop their talents without training and competition at the school
level.

In conclusion, it seems to me that it would be necessary for students to have both

academic and non-academic subjects in the curriculum in order to achieve their full
potential and provide chances to gain a better occupation.
