Counting Fun 1 - 5 Grade Preschool

Supplies: Subject Counting

• 1 copy of Counting Fun 1 - 5 Activity Sheet 2

• 5 marbles Grouping Individuals
• Two plastic cups
• Paper cutting scissors

Activity:
1) To get preschoolers ready for this activity, practice saying the numbers 1 to 5 aloud
with the students. Pause after each number and let the students repeat it. Continue
this exercise a couple of times till they are completely familiar with the numbers. Write
down the numbers on the board to help them visually discriminate one number from
the other.
2) Using paper cutting scissors, cut each number from the Counting Fun 1 - 5 Activity
Sheet 2 along the dotted lines. After you have cut all the numbers, put them all in one
of the plastic cups. Mix well to jumble them up.
3) Use the other plastic cup to store the marbles.
4) Now, begin the Counting Fun Activity with all the students. The rules of the game are:
• Each student will randomly pick out one number card from the plastic cup.
• Once they read the number on the card, they will pick the same number of marbles
from the other plastic cup as the number on their card. They will, then, hand the mar-
bles over to you.
• Check if the students have handed over the correct number of marbles. After checking,
replace the number card as well as the marbles to their own plastic cups.
5) Give each student a chance to draw a card and play the game.
