HISTORY OF CHESS

WHAT:
chess, one of the oldest and most popular board games, played by two
opponents on a checkered board with specially designed pieces of contrasting colours,
commonly white and black.
The history of chess can be traced back nearly 1500 years to its earliest known
predecessor, called chaturanga, in India; its prehistory is the subject of speculation.
From India it spread to Persia. Following the Arab invasion and conquest of Persia,
chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently spread to southern Europe.
The game evolved roughly into its current form by about 1500 CE.

WHO:
No specified name, only the origin of place where chess started to play.
But the father of Chess is Wilhelm Steinitz.

WHEN:
Around the 8th century.

WHERE:
Chess was invented in India around the 8th century. Then it was known as
chatrang, and changed over the centuries by the Arabs, Persians and then ultimately
the medieval Europeans, who changed the pieces' names and appearances to resemble
the English court.

WHY:
Why we need to know and or master Chess and what is the importance of
Chess?
 Improved memory and cognitive abilities, strategic thinking and attention
improvement.
