OMEPRAZOLE- 40mg IV- ONCE A DAY

Omeprazole works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach produces.

CLASSIFICATION: GASTROINTESTINAL AGENT; PROTON PUMP INHIBITOR

SIDE EFECTS: CNS: dizziness, headache GI: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain

NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES: Discontinue drug if signs and symptoms of cutaneous lupus erythematosus or SLE
develop; refer patient to the appropriate specialist for evaluation.

2. FUROSEMIDE-40mg IV NOW

CLASSIFICATIONS: ELECTROLYTIC AND WATER BALANCE AGENT

USES: Treatment of edema associated with CHF, cirrhosis of liver, and kidney disease, including nephrotic
syndrome. May be used for management of hypertension, alone or in combination with other antihypertensive
agents, and for treatment of hypercalcemia. Has been used concomitantly with mannitol for treatment of severe
cerebral edema, particularly in meningitis.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: History of hypersensitivity to furosemide or sulfonamides; increasing oliguria, anuria, fluid


and electrolyte depletion states; hepatic coma; pregnancy (category C), lactation.

NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES: Observe patients receiving parenteral drug carefully; closely monitor BP and vital
signs. Sudden death from cardiac arrest has been reported.

3. CLONIDINE 75mcg SUBLINGUAL PRN for BP >130/90

CLASSIFICATIONS: Antihypertensive

USES: Clonidine treats high blood pressure by decreasing your heart rate and relaxing the blood vessels
so that blood can flow more easily through the body.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Contraindicated in patients hypertensive to drug

SIDE EFFECTS: Drowsiness, dizziness, sedation, weakness, fatigue, malaise, agitation

NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES: Drug may be given to lower BP rapidly some hypertensive emergencies

4. METOCLOPRAMIDE HYDROCHLORIDE 10mg IV now then q8 PRN for nausea and Vomiting

CLASSIFICATIONS: GASTROINTESTINAL AGENT

USES: Metoclopramide is used to relieve heartburn and speed the healing of ulcers and sores in the
esophagus

SIDE EFFECTS: Drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, trouble sleeping, agitation, headache, and diarrhea may
occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES: Report immediately the onset of restlessness, involuntary movements,


facial grimacing, rigidity, or tremors.
5. NaHCO3 50mEqs IV now then NaHCO3 500mg tab TID

Classifications: GASTROINTESTINAL AGENT; ANTACID; FLUID AND ELECTROLYTE BALANCE AGENT

USES: Sodium bicarbonate is an antacid used to relieve heartburn and acid indigestion.

Contraindications: Prolonged therapy with sodium bicarbonate; patients losing chloride (as from
vomiting, GI suction, diuresis); heart disease, hypertension; renal insufficiency; peptic ulcer

6. FE SO4 1 TAB TID- FERROUS SULFATE

Ferrous sulfate is used to treat iron deficiency anemia (a lack of red blood cells caused by having too
little iron in the body).

7. Levofloxacin 500mg IV ODis used to treat certain infections such as pneumonia, and kidney, prostate
(a male reproductive gland), and skin infections.
