How was the initial relationship between the Native Americans and Europeans beneficial to both groups? Why did
that change?

Notes:​ ​Early Relations

At first the relationship between the Native Americans and the European Colonists were beneficial​ ​to both groups.

Why?

Native Americans taught the Colonists how to survive.

The Colonists brought trade goods such as tools, firearms, and horses.

But the good relations between the groups were short lived.

Reasons:

1. Europeans unknowingly brought diseases​ ​to the Americas.

2. The Europeans’ desire for more and more land.

Results:

1. Millions of Native Americans died from disease.

a. 80-90%​ ​in some areas.

a. 1675 – “kings phillips war” in the New England Colony.

3. Native Americans were forced off their land and to the west.

This was a cycle that would be repeated over and over.

Essential Question Answer: it was beneficial because the europeans had tradable goods the native americans wanted and
the Europeans wanted to survive so the native americans helped them. after europeans got the not dying thing down they
wanted more land from the native americans, they killed and forced native americans off their land and many native
americans died souring the relations
