Week 2

Teaching Suggestions: Teach the poem with the movements.

Explore saying the poem using singing, speaking, whispering and shouting voices.
To help develop inner hearing have the children say the poem with thinking voice, or as I call it, their
“magic lips.” The children “mouth” the words but don’t make any sound. Be sure to do your motions
with a steady beat. When you take away the sound and just do motions, it will really help to develop that inner
hearing.

Invite the children to choose the type of voice that you use to say the poem. Some classes may be able to say
two lines of the poem with one kind of voice, and two lines of the poem with a different kind of voice.
