HOW DO I…

Do a TNT 5 Crosstab?
TNT5 is a fast and easy Crosstab system that allows you to analyse survey data. This guide shows
how to run a report in order to identify which publications are best to reach men aged 25-44
INPUT STEPS
Step 1 Pick your survey in this example we chose the latest NRS

Step 2 (Column entry) In this example we will analyse Men aged 25-44 so we put this in as a
column using coding logic explained in the Coding/code book training guide

MEN AND (AGE 25-34 OR AGE 35-44)

Select Men on the left (by clicking on the => key, or double clicking) then click on the AND button in the
middle of the screen, then select both Age breaks (age 25-34 also age 35-44) (using Ctrl key) and click on
the ANY operator. ANY means that the ages will be joined using the OR command
(it also surrounds the coding with brackets, which is important).

Step 4 (Row Entry) To switch to rows, click on the Row tab. This example shows the
entry of publications as separate rows, Using the  each publication is entered
separately

The Table (also known as filter or table base) is automatically entered as all adults for you. This
filters the whole of your report through the table base. If you want the report filtered through a
different audience, click on the table tab as below - and then pick your alternative base audience

OUTPUT or RESULTS
Step 5 Run gives the results Screen either CrossTab or a Rank format as per examples below
This is an example of a crosstab (report A), which is This is an example of a ranking report, which you can
the default. If you right click on the column Men age choose instead of a crosstab. Separated Rank gives 2
25-44, you can sort the rows, in descending or separate tables underneath each other (if you have
ascending order more than one column or demographic). Combined
ranking puts the demos side by side.

For the ranking reports , report B is ranked by

audience (000) in descending order, which in this
case is reach of the publication and report C is ranked
by %row , which is the profile. So you can see that
the Daily Mirror has the highest reach for Men 25-44,
but Nuts and the Sun, have the best profile for Men
age 25-44.
Step 6 When you are happy with the format of you report , you can use the Excel icon, on
the ribbon to download your report to an Excel or PDF file.

RIGHT CLICK CLEVER TIPS 
 Combine coding
 Own codes allow you to save complex codes or frequently used codes
 Use separated rank to get a nice ranked report sorted by criteria of your choice
 Snapshots records reports as you snap shot them and exports these to one Excel file as
separate sheets
 Replace … if your titling is too long you can replace with shorter titles
