country, led to even more
prosperous nation.

Filipinos especially the
conservative upper class saw
that there is no other
significance in maintaining
the Spanish Regime.

education in the late
nineteenth century is due to
the emergence of
nationalism.
One huge factor in the rise of
nationalism was that Filipinos
finally realized the
importance of historical
investigation in creating
national consciousness.
Filipinos strong devotion to
catholic faith and was used as
an instrument to retain
Spanish authority in the
country.
In the beginning of
nineteenth century, there was
a lack of friars which led to
the turning over many
parishes to Filipino priests.
