Prayer Service to Celebrate the Life of

Brother Marcelino “Boy” Bosque

Introduction
Opening Song

Leader: Dear family, relatives and friends of Bro. Marcelino “Boy” Bosque,
we are united here to pray for and to reflect on the death of our loved one who
was and still is dear to us, though he is no longer with us. Let us listen to the
Word of God, and reflect on these words:
God so Loved the world that He gave His only Son to us, so that every one who
has faith in Him may not die but may have eternal life (John 3:16).
Leader: Let us pray. O God, whose proper virtue it is to have mercy and to
spare: we humbly beseech You, on behalf of the soul of Your servant Bro.
Marcelino “Boy” Bosque, whom You have called out of this world: that you will
not forget him forever, but bid Your holy angels to lead him into Paradise, his
true country. For, as much as in You he put his hope and trust, he may come to
the possession of eternal joy.
All: Be merciful, we beseech You, O Lord, to the soul of Your servant, for which
we offer to You the Holy Sacrifice of praise and expiation, humbly beseeching
Your majesty that by this sacrifice of Your Son, he may be found worthy to win
everlasting rest.
Leader: To You, O Lord, we humbly commend our brother Marcelino “Boy”
Bosque. In this mortal life, You loved him with a great love. Now that he has been
freed from all evils of earth, bid Your mercy, that when the first things have
passed away, of Your goodness, You will bring him to Your Paradise, where there
is no more grief or suffering or sadness, but only peace and joy with Your Son
and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever.
All: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, a gentle Father and
the God of all consolation, who comforts us in our sorrows so that we can offer
others in their sorrows, the consolation that we have received from God
ourselves. Let us trust Him, for He will help us through His Son who invites us:
Come to me all you who labor and are burdened and I will give you rest.
Leader: O God, You overcame death through Your only begotten Son, and
opened to us the gate of eternal life. We beg You to welcome Your servant Bro.
Marcelino “Boy” Bosque, who walked the way of life of Your Son, Jesus. Fulfill
Your promise to him whom you have called to Yourself. Grant him your glory and
life, through our Lord, Jesus Christ.

All: Let us pray also for ourselves. In time to come, may we who now mourn and
weep, be able to go with our brother to meet Christ, when He Himself who is our
life, shall appear in His glory.

Leader: Most merciful Father, into Your hands we commend our brother
Marcelino “Boy” Bosque, for we are sustained by the sure hope that he will rise
again on the last day, at the Resurrection, with all those who have died in Christ.

All: We give You thanks for all the good things which You gave to Your servant in
this mortal life, as signs of Your goodness to him and of the communion of saints
in Christ. Lord, in your great mercy, accept our prayer that the gates of Paradise
may be opened to him. In our turn, may we too be comforted by the words of
faith, until we hasten to meet Christ, when we may all be forever with the Lord,
and with our brother.

Leader: Dear Bro. Marcelino “Boy” Bosque, may the angels lead you into
Paradise. May the choirs of angels welcome you, and with the poor man Lazarus -
and all the elect - may you enjoy everlasting rest and joy.

All: Christ was the first to rise from the dead, and He will re-make our imperfect
bodies to be like His own glorified body. Let us entrust our brother to
Christ, that He may raise him again on the Last Day, and make him one with His
saints in His Kingdom. Let us pray for our sister; pray to Jesus Christ our Lord who
said: I am the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in Me, even though
he dies, shall live again; and every living person who believes in Me shall never
die but possess everlasting life.

Leader: Bring comfort to us in our sorrow at the loss of our brother. May the
faith, which is our greatest treasure, be also our consolation, and eternal life our
hope.

All: O Lord, our God, Your days are without end; Your mercies, too many to count.
Cause us never to forget that our life is short and uncertain. Let Your Holy Spirit
lead us through this present world in holiness and justice all the days of our life.
And after we have served you on earth – in communion with Your Church, in
confidence of a sure faith, in the comfort of holy hope and in perfect charity with
all men – may we joyfully come to Your Kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Leader: Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

All: And let perpetual light shine upon him.

Leader: May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy
of God, rest in peace. Amen.

2nd Song
Reading and Exhortation

2 Corinthians 5: 1, 6-10
A Reading from the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians
Brothers and Sisters:
We know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we have a
building from God, a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven. So we are
always courageous, although we know that while we are at home in the body we
are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yet we are courageous,
and we would rather leave the body and go home to the Lord.
Therefore, we aspire to please him, whether we are at home or away. For we
must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive
recompense, according to what he did in the body, whether good or evil.
The Word of the Lord

Revelations 14:13
“A reading from the Revelation to John.”
Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, "Write this: Happy are those who from
now on die in the service of the Lord!" "Yes indeed!" answers the Spirit. "They will
enjoy rest from their hard work, because the results of their service go with
them.“
The Word of the Lord.

PRAYER FOR THE LIVING

Leader: Grant O God, that while we lament the departure of your servant Bro.
Marcelino “Boy” Bosque, we may always remember that we are most certainly to
follow him. Give us grace to prepare for that last hour, and be always prepared
for it – by a good life, as a true Christian, so that we may not be surprised by a
sudden and unprovided death, but may be ever watching, so that when You shall
call, we may enter into eternal glory.
Help us therefore, our Father, to prepare and be always prepared for our
summons, and departure: by avoiding temptation and sin and by increasing and
growing in prayer and charity. For only in this way can we be sure to have our
whole family reunited again in Heaven forever.

All: Amen.
