Progress Check

“Has there been a greater test of national commitment to the ideals you hold dear than
that my people have gone through?” The lines of Cory Aquino as she says it to American
congress that give hope to us Filipino citizens as she is the very first female president of the
Philippines to legalized the democracy against threat and corruption and give Filipinos a
freedom to choose who to lead the nation. She is against the dictatorship of the previous
president that the Filipinos became one with her as she imposes People Power to the
Philippines. As her long live dream of having a happy family all went down before she even
became the president as his husband Benigno Aquino Jr. was killed by his fellow senate
member and the previous president of that time according to Cory Aquino. As many Filipinos
were in disbelief by the death of Benigno Aquino Jr. they still honored his sacrificed for the well
of the country.

Upon hearing the speech of Cory Aquino I realized that there is some flaw about the
running of the congress of the past. First is the dictatorship upon the Philippines that affected all
of the Filipinos that are against it and becoming more obvious that the uprisings that the
Filipinos had received are too shallow as the time goes. My thoughts about the words of Cory
Aquino made me think of how do this people get to have a leadership if not everyone in the
country was supported by any means. There is still good conducts that the martial law had given
to us and that’s to limit yourself and never be too foolish to go everywhere without suffering for
the consequences.

After those times that the dictatorship have reached their doom as the new power within
comes to light and the person leading it is Cory Aquino as the new president of the Philippines
on 1986. It led to an end to those fearful and scary days of that time where people couldn’t
afford their own freedom as they were subjugated if they go against the system that was on at
the time of Ferdinand Marcos Sr. that was all resolved and the rest becomes history as time
passes by.
