Dear friends as we close this day, I want us to meditate on three things about Jesus' healing.

In the first reading Isaiah assures us that God is here in charge of our welfare and asks us not to fear
anything that complicates our life, because that is What God is here for! This assurance is fulfilled in the
Gospel as God heals a deaf man with speech impediment, and on whom we learn the following three
things.

The first: People brought the man, they begged Jesus to lay his hands on him.

This man in the Gospel was sorrounded by people a family or community that cared for him. They took
care of him, heard Jesus on his behalf and spoke to Jesus on his behalf. They were his ears and mouth.
Jesus cured the man because of them.

Who among us prayer partners, does not have people in your circle, family, friends or distant
connections whom we know are in need of God’s grace and healing? In our moments of prayer, do we
raise these people to Jesus? Do we ask Him to lay a hand upon them? The second reading asks us to not
only associate with those that are well off! We should also reach out to the people who are deaf and
mute because of their problems, take care of them and include them in our prayers! For example a poor
person in this era is mute, wano wetutuuse omwavu tateesa! Do we associate with the distressed and
ask Jesus to heal them?

Secondly, He took him off by himself away from the crowd; For Jesus to heal this man, he took him
away from the crowd. This man was one on one, alone before God. We have and really need time to be
with and socialize with our community, those who take care of us, pray and intercede for us, each one of
us here has their time to go to the 'upper room' and be alone with God in prayer. Do we make use of
this hour? Or we weaken and break the prayer chain? Do you also find time alone with God?

Third, God works through physical signs! ‘He put his finger into the man’s ears and spitting, touched his
tongue'. Some of you are doing medicine here, no where will you ever find such a prescription for
deafness, however with faith, he was healed. God gives us Sacraments as physical signs of his healing
grace! Do we make good use of God’s sacraments to be healed? How many times do I abuse
Sacraments?

May God’s pull us out of the crowd , away from the noise of worries and distractions and heal our
deafness of heart!! Amen.
