SUMMARY

Surviving seems to be possible, even without adults. There
are fruits, water and even pigs to hunt. The boys are buil-
ding shelters, explore the island and light a fire.
But the harmony don’t last long. The crisis leads in an~
archy, death and destruction. Hunting is no more the way
ofgetting meat, but killing without sense, the hunters and
the keeper of the fire fight angainst eachother. The
stronger will survive. Terror split up the society an lead
it in a world without rules, civilisation and human
behavior.

DISCUSSING POINTS
1. Is “Lord of the Flies" a classical Robinsonade?
2. What wants Golding to express with the change of the boys
to animals?
3. Whose guilt is the bloody climax of the story?
4. What’s the function of the scull?
5. Would you like to live on a desert island? Would you end
up like our heroes?
