Choose the mode of transport is a job very important, is a determination course of
your business, any company must determine the best mode of transport for the
business.

• Important features for choose the mode of transport

✓ Type of merchandise: the characteristics of the products may have as the most
relevant point for the decision, since it must be guaranteed that it reaches the final
consumer in perfect condition.

✓ Location: determine current location, place of origin and destination of the

confirmation.

✓ Time: it is specified not only by the geographical distance but by the condition of
the roads, the mode and the means of transport chosen. Cost: same as above,
costs dependent on distance, mode and means of transportation.

• Modes of transport
Choosing the correct mode of transport for your products depends on the size and
urgency of your shipment. There are modes of transport:

✓ Rail

✓ Air

✓ Sea

✓ Courier

• Road

✓ The road is cheap, one of the most flexible modes of transport, but it’s not as
eco-friendly.

✓ The height, weight and length are a value very important if you are planning
send commodity for road, because the road have some restrictions
• Rail

✓ Rail transport is speedy, environmentally friendly and don’t have subject to

congestion or delays. But it is inflexible and can be very expensive.

✓ The easiest way to ship your products by rail is to buy a rail haulage package
through a freight operating company.

• Air

✓ Is fastest way to transport your products across long distances - but it's
expensive and not very eco-friendly

✓ If you're thinking of using a freight forwarder, make sufre the company you
approach has experience shipping to the country you're planning to send your
goods to, is a member of a freight service industry body, and is covered by limited
liability insurance.

• Sea ✓
Compared to airfreight, shipping your products by sea is relatively cheap,
particularly if you are sending large volumes. It's slow, though, and fairly inflexible -
there are relatively few ports and you will probably need to make arrangements to
move your products inland.

• Courier ✓ Couriers are fast, reliable and very secure, but can be costly. ✓
Because of the nature of couriers' vehicles, they generally only deliver goods up to
a certain weight. ✓ Couriers are usually only cost-effective over short distances.
