Grade: Pre-K Collaborating Teacher: Ms. Michael Time: 60 minutes Topic: Traveling Safely Online Goal for this lesson: Student will learn how to go to certain places safely online Needs Assessments: Students need to understand the importance of surfacing the internet safely. Students need to understand what website is safe and what website is not safe. Learner Analysis: Ms. Michael class has 22 Pre-K students. She has 13 boys and 9 girls ranging from age 4-5. There are 19 African American learners, 1 White learner, and 2 Hispanic learners. Instructional Materials: computer, promethean board, My Online Neighborhood video, chart paper, pencil, crayons Additional Resources: Google Slides Instructional Objectives: 1. Students will be able to go to certain places safely online 2. Students will be able to determine what is safe and what is not safe online 3. Students will be able to discuss the right thing to do when they use a computer Assessment Plan: 1. Formative: charting student’s answer 2. Formative: interactive game with students picking if the scenario is safe or not 3. Formative: picture of students being safe in the neighborhood Lesson Outline: Teacher will open up the discussion with the question, “How can we be safe online?”. Teacher will chart student’s answer. Teacher will then show the video, My Online Neighborhood to the students. After video, teacher will explain the importance of being safe online, and how to do the right thing when they use the computer. Teacher will play an interactive game with the students, where they have to choose if it is safe or not. Finally, students will draw a picture of them being safe in the neighborhood. The picture can be with someone they know, or how they can be safe on the internet. Evaluation Plan: 1. Provide feedback to student’s choices in the interactive game 2. Provide feedback to student’s pictures
