Autocratic leadership style is a leader ship style in which decisions


that effect the business are made without consulting employees and
their opinions .It is based on the principle there is only “ one “ best
way of doings things.

Style
•Allows little or no input from group members

•Requires leaders to make almost all of the decisions

•Provides leaders with the ability to dictate work methods and processes

•Leaves group feeling like they aren't trusted with decisions or important tasks
To Be Successful Autocratic Leadership
Style
The autocratic style can be beneficial in some settings, but also has its pitfalls
and is not appropriate for every setting and with every group. If this tends to be
your dominant leadership style, there are things that you should consider
whenever you are in a leadership role.

Listen to Team Members


You might not change your mind or implement their advice, but subordinates
need to feel that they can express their concerns. Autocratic leaders can
sometimes make team members feel ignored or even rejected.

examples:
Bill Gates' leadership style is a mix of authoritarian and participative. He's a
master delegator of tasks but understands the value of harnessing the skills
of his team members. This combination of styles led to the enormous success
of the company he founded, Microsoft.

Braham Lincoln. Honest Abe rarely gave battlefield orders but made many
autonomous decisions during the Civil War. According to Smithsonian
Magazine, “He applied his large quotient of common sense to slice through the
obfuscations and excuses of military subordinates.” The outcome of President
Lincoln’s autocratic leadership style had a profound, everlasting effect on
America: the abolishment of slavery.
Napoleon Bonaparte. The French Revolution military leader was
notorious for his autocratic leadership style. He commanded a
huge army without sharing his ideas with anyone. Clearly, his
tactics worked. How else could he have expanded his empire to
over 70 million people.
