called it the Pestilence and the Great Mortality. The Black Death has also been called the plague of
Florence. Because this city was the first major population center to be seriously impacted.

The name of the flea that caused the black death is Xenopsylla cheopis, also known as oriental rat flea,

is a parasite of many mammalian species, including rattus and humans.

Necrosis is the death of body tissue. This can be from injury, radiation, or chemicals. It is a process
wherein the flesh starts to decay so that is why the body of a person who is infected with the plague
turns into black.
