TỪ (COMPARISON)
A. TÓM TẮT LÝ THUYẾT
1. So sánh bằng với tính từ và trạng từ:
 Cấu trúc:
So sánh bằng của tính từ So sánh bằng của trạng từ
Khẳng định S + be + as + adj + as … S1 + V1 + as + adv + as + S2 + trợ động từ.

Phủ định S + be + not + as/so + adj + as … S + don’t/doesn’t/didn’t/… + Vnguyên thể +

as/so + adv + as + S2 + trợ động từ
 Ví dụ:
- She is as tall as I am = She is as tall as me.
- He runs as quickly as I do = He runs as quickly as me.
 Thực hành:
a. Mai không chăm chỉ bằng Nhi. ______________________________________
b. Mai làm bài tập nhanh bằng Nhi. ______________________________________
c. Nhi không nấu ăn ngon bằng Mai. ______________________________________

2. So sánh hơn với tính từ và trạng từ.

 Cấu trúc:  
So sánh hơn của tính từ So sánh hơn của trạng từ
Adj/Adv ngắn S + be + adj ngắn + er + than … S1 + V1 + adv ngắn + er + than + S2 + trợ động
từ.
Adj/Adv dài S + be + more + adj dài + than … S1 + V1 + more + adv dài + than + S2 + trợ động
từ.
 Ví dụ:
- This book is thicker (adj) than that one.
- They work harder (adv) than I do. = They work harder than me.
- He is more intelligent than I am. = He is more intelligent than me.
- My friend did the test more carefully than I did. = My friend did the test more carefully than me.

3. So sánh hơn nhất đối với tính từ và trạng từ.

 Cấu trúc:  
So sánh hơn nhất của tính từ So sánh hơn nhất của trạng từ
Adj/Adv ngắn S + be + the + adj ngắn + est + N… S1 + V1 + the + adv ngắn + est …
Adj/Adv dài S + be + the most + adj dài + N … S1 + V1 + the most + adv dài …
 Ví dụ:
- It is the darkest time in my life.
- He runs the fastest in my class.
- She is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met.
- He drives the most carelessly among us.
 Thực hành:
a. Tôi là người cẩn thận nhất trong gia đình. ______________________________________
b. Mùa hè là mùa nóng nhất trong năm ở Hà Nội. ______________________________________
c. Mai vẽ tranh giỏi nhất trong lớp. ______________________________________
d. Nam chạy chậm nhất trong nhóm. ______________________________________

4. Chú ý
(1) Một số tính từ có 2 âm tiết nhưng có tận cùng là “y, le, ow, er” khi sử dụng ở so sánh hơn hay so sánh hơn
nhất nó áp dụng cấu trúc so sánh hơn của tính từ ngắn.
Tính từ So sánh hơn So sánh hơn nhất
Happy           -> happier          -> the happiest
Simple   -> simpler      -> the simplest
Narrow  -> narrower      -> the narrowest
Clever                                -> cleverer     -> the cleverest

Ví dụ:
- Now they are happier than they were before.

(2) Một số tính từ và trạng từ biến đổi đặc biệt khi sử dụng so sánh hơn và so sánh hơn nhất.

Good/well -> better -> the best
Bad/ badly -> worse -> the worst
Much/ many -> more -> the most
A little/ little -> less -> the least
Far -> farther/ further -> the farthest/ furthest
4. So sánh kép
1. Cấu trúc so sánh “….càng ngày càng …”
Tính từ Trạng từ
Ngắn S + be + adj ngắn + er + and + adj ngắn S + V + adv ngắn + er + and + adv ngắn + er.
+ er. VD: He works harder and harder
VD: My sister is taller and taller
Dài S + be + more and more + adj dài S1 + V1 + more and more + adv dài.
VD: The film is more and more VD: He ran more and more slowly at the end of
interesting. the race.
 Thực hành:
a. Việt Nam càng ngày càng đông dân. ______________________________________
b. Anh của Nam càng ngày càng thân thiện. ______________________________________
c. Bạn tôi nấu ăn càng ngày càng ngon. ______________________________________
d. Bố tôi lái xe càng ngày càng cẩn thận. ______________________________________

2. Cấu trúc so sánh “càng …. càng…”

Tính từ Trạng từ
Ngắn The + adj ngắn + er + S1 be, the + adj The + adv ngắn + er + S1 V1, the + adv ngắn + er +
ngắn + er + S2 be. S2 V2.
VD: The cooler it is, the better I feel. VD: The harder he works, the higher salary he
gets.
Dài The more + adj dài + S1 be, the more + The more + adv dài + S1 V1, the more + adv dài +
adj dài + S2 be. S2 V2.
VD: The more carefully he studies, the more
confident he feels.

5. So sánh bội (gấp bao nhiêu lần)

         Số lần (half/ twice/ three times/…) + many/much/ adj/ adv+ as …
