FIRST SIGNIFICANT EVENT: Introduction of Characters

Adult life is really something. Fate is
always playing games with me. Late ako ngayon for my 7 a.m. class, and I forgot my ID card
kaya hindi ako pinapasok ng security guard. Worst, my Logic professor kicked me out because I
was fifteen minutes late.

I just spent the time in a café with a weird name, when one of their staff, oddly named Sigmund,
suddenly showed his astute observation skills and dropped his observations on me, which are
surprisingly all correct. Parang nahatulan tuloy ako in a few minutes.

Little did I know, magiging malaking part pala ito ng buhay ko.

"Good afternoon!"

Meet the man. Sigmund Salazar.
A psychology student gifted with exemplary observation skills.
Ewan ko, I sometimes find him creepy because of how he just randomly spit his deductions on
you.

"Hi, Mav!"

If you see a fine looking man with a mole in his left eye, that's Nikolai. He's slim, maybe
because he's a Criminology student. Nikolai has remarkable disguise and stalking skills, and no
wonder why many would fall for his charms.

"..."

Oh, that's Landice. I honestly thought he's mute, but nalaman kong he's a man of few words.
According to Sigmund, he dropped out of college for some reason na ayaw ko rin namang
malaman. He may be silent, but he is the best deductionist in this café, dubbed as the counter
detective.

And yes, Moriartea Café is not your ordinary comfort place, we solve cases and help you get
out of trouble.
SECOND SIGNIFICANT EVENT: Sped Student Kidnapping Case (w/ Sigmund)
MAVIEL: First day, first case. Nandito kami ngayon sa second floor which was completely
different from the setup sa baba. This is the place where we bring our clients to discuss the
case.

SIGMUND: May we know what happened at your workplace?

JOAQUIN (client): Ganito kasi — H-How did you know na may nangyari sa pinagtatrabahuhan
ko?
SIGMUND: Just a guess.

MAVIEL: After discussing it, we learned that Joaquin is a manager in a nearby hotel.
Apparently, from the video he showed us, a teenage girl is doing unusual behavior — staring
into the camera and randomly pressing elevator buttons.
Joaquin showed two other videos which also showed
the same scene.

nila.

MAVIEL: After a series of questions, Sigmund said we should come to the hotel. Joaquin drove
us there and we discussed his deductions.

SIGMUND: One way to know what code was used is through knowing the background of the
one who wrote it. For instance, a seafarer can leave a message in Morse code because he's
familiar with it. Ano ang natatandaan mo tungkol sa babae?
MAVIEL: She's a special education student studying in the university.
SIGMUND: That single fact gave it away. Are you familiar with Braille? No? A system of writing
and reading for the visually impaired or blind. Every character is represented by a set of six dots
divided into two columns and three rows, and some of those dots are raised.

MAVIEL: After restructuring and decoding from the elevator buttons na pinress ng babae,
Sigmund came up with three letters.

MAVIEL: SOS?
SIGMUND: A distress signal from someone who needs help.
MAVIEL: But why would she ask for help? Kasama naman niya ang parents niya. Kung
kailangan niya ng tulong, she could have asked them.
SIGMUND: Unless they're not her real parents.
Now we're also being held as hostages. I
asked him if he had a plan and he said, "Yes." May baril si Manong and we can't fight back

And he's
coming in three, two, one..!
*silence*
SIGMUND: Uhm… Three, two, one!
*no response*
SIGMUND: Three, two—
NIKOLAI: Delivery from Moriartea Café!
SUSPECT 1: Delivery? Nagkamali ka yata ng pinuntahan, boy. Hindi kami um-order ng kahit
ano sa inyong café.
NIKOLAI: Eh? Pero may nag-order sa amin through text message at sinabing i-deliver dito
Bayad na ho kasi ito

MAVIEL: And there.

SIGMUND: Go ahead, shoot!
MAVIEL: Sigmund!
SIGMUND: We have nothing to fear. This guy is harmless. He's only trying to make it appear
that he can hurt us by holding that fake gun. I told you I'm a good observant. When Manong and
I had a brief chat earlier, I observed the gun's texture and its weight based on how you hold it.
Your gun is probably made of plastic, but it looks like the real thing
NIKOLAI: That's Sigmund for you!
SUSPECT 1: Tsk!

kaniya. That's how the case ended, with us saving the girl from distress. The manager and she
thanked us, and Sigmund gave the account number where the manager can deposit the
payment for our services. After all, it's about money. Sigmund wanted to show me earlier how
dangerous our job is, but I feel proud of our work. Case closed.

After solving the case, the three returned to the cafe. Maviel asked to leave earlier than
the Moriartea boys since she had something to finish on her World Literature subject.

THIRD SIGNIFICANT EVENT: Meeting Vivien

MAVIEL: It was six o'clock in the evening nang pumunta ako sa malapit na fast food chain at
Her
name is Vivien. I didn’t recognize her at first, but it turned out naging customer na pala siya ng
cafe. I found out that she’s Sigmund’s first trainee and also the first part-timer of Moriartea Cafe.
She mentioned Aria’s disappearance case, and I told her that I want to help her in finding out
the truth. We did our best to investigate, but we just ended up having the same clues that the
police already had. We halted our investigation for a while.

// PAKILAGYAN NG “FEW DAYS LATER” //

FOURTH SIGNIFICANT EVENT: Confrontation with Sigmund

MAVIEL: It was when I was supposed to change into my PE uniform when I saw an
unfamiliar folder in my locker. When I opened it, I was shocked, and I felt numb. Para akong
pinaglaruan.
niya. Later that day, I talked to Sigmund privately. I confronted him. Nainis ako kaya
nasampal ko siya. I wanted an explanation, but he reacted like a madman. He seemed
twisted and far from the image of him that I have in mind. I also found out na kaya mas
mataas ang sahod ko sa cafe ay dahil bayad na rin sa akin ‘yon ni Sigmund for using me.
He sounded unapologetic during our confrontation which led me to a decision. I am leaving
the cafe. I walked out and just left Sigmund behind. I am never coming back to that place.

FIFTH SIGNIFICANT EVENT: Finding Out the Truth

1 MAVIEL: After my confrontation with Sigmund, tumambay muna ako isang malapit na
karinderya.
May bigla akong naisip. What if the killer used that method?

2 MAVIEL: Viv!I think I have figured out how the culprit hid the body! It may sound a bit absurd
but maybe it's worth looking at. Can you meet me in ten minutes at the greenhouse?
But why there?
4 MAVIEL: My instinct tells me that's the perfect hiding spot.

6VIVIEN: If not several feet below the ground, where else can you bury an adult human body
here?
7MAVIEL: That! That's exactly the flawed reasoning kaya hindi nila nakita ang katawan.
8VIVIEN: Sorry but I don't follow.
9 MAVIEL: The police were looking for the whole body of a college student. But what if that
body was chopped into pieces?
VIVIEN: T-That's brutal!
VIVIEN: The pots…
Who could have committed that brutality to
her?
11 MAVIEL: Someone who has access to the greenhouse. Someone who has authority in the
university para ipatawag si Aria dito.
12 VIVIEN: Sir Verde.

14 VIVIEN: You are wrong, Mav.

15MAVIEL: Huh?
16VIVIEN: It wasn't Sir Verde. It was me.

17MAVIEL: The last thing my eyes captured was Vivien's malignant grin.

Vivien was humming a familiar
nursery rhyme while digging.

19VIVIEN: Gising ka na pala, Mav! You can cry for help if you want. But this greenhouse is
soundproof. And should I
mention na iilan lang ang dumaraan dito?
21 MAVIEL: Bakit?! Bakit mo ginagawa ito?!
VIVIEN: I have nothing personal against you, Mav. But I can't allow anyone to get closer to
Sigmund. You and Aria tried to erase me from his memory, didn't you? Kaya ba tinanggap mo
ang pagiging part-timer sa café?
23 MAVIEL: Wala akong ganoong intensyon!
24 VIVIEN: Exactly! Aria almost got rid of me from Sigmund's memory! Oh, speaking of the
devil.

It was a round object
covered with dirt. It was Aria's skull!

VIVIEN: Maviel, meet Aria. Aria, meet Maviel.

VIVIEN: When Aria was in your situation, I killed her first before chopping her body. What if I
chop your body while listening to your screams until you die? Now shall we start the party?
NIKOLAI: Art of Concealing Number Five: Mole in the Hole.
28 MAVIEL: N-Nikolai! S-Sigmund!
NIKOLAI: Naku! Nadumihan na naman ang uniform ko!
SIGMUND: Pwede mo namang ipa-laundry 'yan.

29 MAVIEL: They were here all along, disguised in the soil. Sigmund revealed that he has
known that Aria's body was hidden here for months. He already suspected that Vivien was
behind the crime when she made her appearance during the Wolfsbane case, and her
signature that seemed W, which is actually V-V-N, is her name. Sigmund was just waiting for
the opportunity to confirm if his theory that the culprit is only attacking part-timers is correct.

30 SIGMUND: Nang makita ko ang thesis proposal na ibinigay mo kay Mav, I figured out that
you wanted to isolate her from everyone in the café, especially from me. I told Mav some nasty
things that compelled her to quit . Just so everything will go exactly as you planned.
SIGMUND: Yes, Mav. That was just an act. Forgive me for hurting your feelings. I did what
needed to be done.
31 VIVIEN: Your appearance won't change anything. I will still kill this bitch.
32 SIGMUND: Nikolai! Ngayon na!
33 NIKOLAI: Art of Disruption Number Three: Banshee's Cry!

When the

SIGMUND: Nikolai, you know what to do.

35 NIKOLAI: Sigmund's gonna show his secret skill. Para hindi ka maimpluwensiyahan nito,
hindi mo dapat marinig ang sasabihin niya.
36 MAVIEL: A-Anong secret skill?
37NIKOLAI: Hypnotism.

38 MAVIEL: Sigmund started to whisper some things to his former apprentice's ears. Seconds
later, Vivien slowly closed her eyes.

39 SIGMUND: That will do. The moment she wakes up, she will confess her crimes and let
herself be judged by the laws of men.
40NIKOLAI: I never thought that she's capable of…
SIGMUND: Was it my fault that I allowed her to turn into a monster? Was it my fault as her
teacher?
MAVIEL: Don't blame yourself. The problem sometimes lies on the student, not on the teacher.
41 SIGMUND: She did it because of her emotions. The moment we let our feelings get the
better of us, we lose our ability to make rational decisions.

42 MAVIEL: And that was exactly how I was saved. When the police came, Sigmund snapped
his finger and Vivien woke up. She was accompanied by the police to the station.
SIXTH SIGNIFICANT EVENT: Maviel Coming Back

After that nerve-wracking encounter with Vivien where she was almost killed if not for
Sigmund and Nikolai, Maviel took some time off from the cafe to think if she will continue
her work on the cafe or just quit. Before doing so, she had a talk with Sigmund, where
the latter tried to make her feel how sincere and eager he is in keeping Maviel as his
mentee through the cafe. Days passed, and Maviel finally found herself in front of the
cafe again.

MAVIEL: I can do this. I made the right decision!

After chanting those words, she pushed the cafe’s familiar door to enter the shop. As
soon as she set foot inside the cafe, she was welcomed with the same vibe and feeling
that the cafe gave her from the first time she visited it.

SIGMUND: Welcome to Moriartea Cafe-----I mean, welcome back! (please put attention in the
details by making it sound like he shifted from kind of shocked to cheerful)

NIKOLAI: Maviel! Welcome back!!! (say this in a cheerful manner, but do not exaggerate)

They were all happy to have Maviel back, but when they turned to Landice, silence
suddenly enveloped the room.

MAVIEL: (release a soft laugh before saying your line) You haven’t changed at all, Landice!

LANDICE: …

MAVIEL: I missed this. I missed being here—being home.

Maviel was smiling ear-to-ear as she reassured herself that she made the right decision by
coming back to Moriartea cafe when a panting man came rushing through the cafe’s door which
halted Maviel’s train of thoughts.

GUY: Hello… excuse me? (please put hingal effect when u record this <33)

MAVIEL: First day of my return, first case. (throw this line as if may unting kilig sa boses hahah)

MAVIEL: Good afternoon, Sir! Welcome to Moriartea Cafe! May we take your case?
