ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PARENT-TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION

ROLES

 PRESIDENT/SCHOOL HEAD:

o Works with School Leaders and the PTA Board to determine and implement the
goals, events, and activities for the school year.
o Presides all over meetings in the school.
o Exercises general supervision and leadership over the affair of the Association
o Supports the various school functions
o Advocates for students, parents, staff, faculty and administrators with primary
intent to optimize our children’s learning environment

 PRESIDENT ELECT
- Acts as an aide to the President
- Performs the duties and exercises the powers of the President in the absence of the
President
- Assumes the office of the President of the PTA for the next school year

 VICE-PRESIDENT
- Acts as an aide to the President/School Head and the President Elect
- Performs the duties and exercises the powers of the President in the absence of the
President/School Head or President Elect.

 SECRETARY
- Attends all Parent-Teachers’ Association Meetings
- Takes and types the minutes of the meeting and E-mail the finished the minutes to
the President/School Head for approval. Makes the necessary changes, then, E-mail
the minutes to the officers.

 TREASURER
- Maintains the custody of all funds of the PA
- Keeps an accurate record of receipts and expenditures. Disburses funds of the
Association
- Works with the School Head to create an annual budget for the PTA
- Presents the budget to the PTA approval
- Obtains/monitors monthly income statements and balance sheets
