Evidence: The story of bottled water

1. What are the problems derived from drinking bottled water? Mention two
problems at least.
One problem is that when oil is extracted and used for bottle production a lot of energy is
wasted in its preparation and distribution.
The manufacture of plastic bottles is made up of petroleum and various chemicals.
When plastic bottle waste is burned toxic pollution is released into the atmosphere.

2. What is the difference between bottled water and drinking water?

If the water is treated processed and sold by a company, the water is bottled water. If
people can drink water without any problem, this water is drinking water

3. Describe the process involved in manufacturing a plastic bottle

Companies obtain raw materials from nature once they have made the bottles, fill them
with processed water. Being already bottled they are distributed to the people when the
empty bottles are collected it is used to make new low quality products.

4. What happens with the plastic bottles after we throw them away?
If plastic bottles don’t end up in landfills for many years, they end up where toxic pollutants
are flushed out.

5. What solutions can be implemented to solve this problem?

If we work to ban the purchase of bottled water throughout the city, people will drink
drinking water. If we pressure our city officials to bring in and protect drinking water
sources, we will get they do.

6. Is this problem common in your community? What does the community do

to deal with it?
It’s very common. Many people in my community have water filters in their homes and fill a
bottle of water every time they go out when people do this they don’t need to buy bottled
water.

7. Will you drink bottled water again? Why, why not?

It has been long time since I drank bottled water. I have some reasons and one of them is
that I spend less money if I don’t drink bottled water, another is that they may have traces
of pharmaceutical or chemical products seriously affecting my health since it Is very
unstable.

8. What will you do in the future to reduce the number of plastic bottles used in
the world?
I will encourage my family and those around me not to drink bottled water and
participate in campaigns against the use of plastic bottles.
