WHAT IS THE BSU?
The Black Student Union (BSU)
exists to create a socially conscious
body of students that address
issues pertinent to African-
Americans and other people of
color in our local. Our goal is to
celebrate Black culture, educate
students on Black history, promote
academic excellence, and teach
leadership skills through interactive
projects and activities inside and
outside of our school.
WHO CAN JOIN?
BSU is open to all students,
regardless of racial or cultural
differences. BSU welcomes diversity
as it provides a table for rich
discussion, understanding and
acceptance. New members are
welcome at any time throughout
the school year to join.
WHAT DOES BSU DO?
BSU inclusively works to bring cultural
awareness and positive racial relations by
promoting a mutual respect for all cultures. BSU
has weekly meetings, we put together social events,
volunteer opportunities, fundrasing, field trips,
service projects, and bring in guest speakers, for a
wide range of different hobbies and interests.
WHY DO WE HAVE A BSU?
The Black Student Union promotes unity
and beneficial change on campus, as well as acts as
a liaison between students and administration. We
aim to:
Protect Marginalized Students
Highlight Discipline Disparities
Promote Diversity
Create a safe place to be heard
