PUBLISHING
In this online session we take a closer look at the
phenomenon of predatory publishing and consider
carefully what researchers should watch out for and
why. We provide insight into how Scopus curates its
content and in particular the details of how journals
are discontinued and what implications this has for
researchers. Finally, we provide some advice for
researchers on due diligence regarding targeting
journals for publishing.

Alexander Van Servellen is a Senior Consultant for Research

Intelligence at Elsevier. He has over 10 years of experience in


field of research analytics, and works closely with academic
and government institutions to help them use information and
analytics to improve the efficiency and impact of research. He
is originally from the Netherlands, and has been living and
