CAREER PLAN

Since 1986 Indonesia has not been able to unleash from the “middle income trap” country,
based on the OECD Development Center, Indonesia is predicted becoming high income
country in 2043 assuming the best scenario as measured from 2016. It is very important and
relevant to put forward economic growth, social and natural resources in the context of
implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). My interest on development
economy is motivated me to have career in its relevant fields to help in addressing SDGs
obstacles in Indonesia.

A year after returning from scholarship, I will try to optimise the role of being an expert staff
at the International Humanity Foundation (IHF) through newly general economics and
natural resources economics I will gain in the UK, and continuing environmental-based
programmes by applying economic interests in each of it. This will resolve the "trade-off"
argument to the public where economic and environmental interests can be synergised with
sustainability system. By implementing this system, programmes will be created that are
more diverse and environmentally educative for society, in tune with the programmes have
been implemented by the UK Climate Change Unit's to assist the Indonesian government
improving environmental and social regulations in order to augment the sustainability of
Indonesia's development.

Within two years after optimising programmes at IHF, I plan to realise my dream to build
career at think tank, either the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance or the
Center of Reform on Economics Indonesia. I have the opportunity applying macroeconomics
and public policy from my postgraduate study based on economics perspective and its effect
for the environment, this is supported by my character as a thinker and interested in
research that are substantial for think tank work programmes. Thus, I will be able to
cooperate with clients also the government through research and policy surveys, eventually
having implications for the formulation of policy transformation that significantly impacted
on the public interests.

I will contribute to edify Indonesia’s higher education by having role as an academic in

Padjadjaran University, this is in line with the UK’s support to develop education sector in
Indonesia. As a lecturer, surely I have a great opportunity in transferring my knowledge to
be more beneficial for society, especially for studenta as the nation's successor. Despite
becoming a permanent lecturer must have doctoral degree as a standard, this actually
makes me more motivated to pursue doctoral education in economics in the next five years.
With my experiences as research fellow, certainly will strengthen my capabilities to plunge
into academia, beside lecturing to students, I will also actively in synergising collaborations
among academics in the UK with local academics.

My future plans are not only as a profession, but also as a form of contribution. The
contribution will not only be for Indonesia as my home country, but also for the UK as a
country where I will learn studies in supporting my plans, consequently I hope to be able to
help improving closely relationship among both countries.
