DISCUSSION

A. Definition
Conditional sentences are sentences expressing factual implications, or
hypothetical situations and their consequences. They are so called because the validity of
the main clause of the sentence is conditional on the existence of certain circumstances,
which may be expressed in a dependent clause or may be understood from the context.

B. Conditional Sentence Function.

Conditional Sentence formula is divided into 3 types depending on the level of
possibility of the occurrence or implementation of the proposed conditions. (If you want
to learn more explanation please click conditional sentence as you wish).
1. Conditional Sentence Type 1. This first conditional sentence type can be used to
create a conditional sentence that is still possible once the conditions are reached as
they will occur in the future. Example: I will give you money if my car is sold. When
saying his car has not been sold and there is a big chance to be sold so the opportunity
to give money is still big.
2. Conditional Sentence Type 2. This second type of conditional sentence can be used to
denote a conditional sentence whose likelihood of fulfillment will be difficult.
Example: If I found your home, I would see you. If I find your house, I will meet you
but in reality I find it difficult to find your house. Although if you want to try harder
to meet.
3. Conditional Sentence Type 3. This third type conditional sentence is used to indicate
conditional sentences that can not be fulfilled because of the past. Example: If I had
known that your name is Salimah, I would not have gone to your wedding party. If
only (then) I knew Salimah was your name, there was no way I could attend your
wedding. So it has been overdone and the intention of not attending a wedding party
can not be fulfilled.
