Based from the literary piece, “The Necklace” written by Guy de Maupassant, it

introduces how Mathilde makes decisions based on social class standards as she
settles into a life of mediocrity, and it depicts a different perspective on life.
While reading the literary piece I felt pity for Mathilde because in the story she
was described as a charming and a pretty woman yet she was not content of what she
and her husband has in life. Mathilde was put on a test when they were invited to a
grand ball at the palace of the ministry, and lost the necklace she borrowed from
her friend. Due to this, her life became more difficult since she has to work
really hard in order to pay for their debts. Not being content of what we have in
life is sad because it prevents you on seeing how wonderful life is behind the
luxuries.
