TREND ANALYSIS

The Trend analysis slices both the block model and the composites used in the estimation for block
model according to their location. For example, all blocks and composites within a 100m corridor are
averaged, and the average values compared. What the analysis is trying to do is to compare the
estimates with the data closest to it. If there is a big difference between the composites and the
estimate, particularly if the difference is present across several adjacent swaths (corridors along X or Y
or Z) then there is likely some over or under estimation.

Below is a similar procedure in SURPAC which have done for one of the Iron ore
data.

VALIDATION OF ESTIMATED MODEL: TREND ANALISYS

Required Files:

1. Composite file
2. Radical values of Block Model in string file format (By using BM – Export – Function you can get
this).
3. You can use original assay values from your Geological Data Base. ( by DB>EXTRACT function)

BM GEOSTATISTICS TREND ANALYSIS

STEP I:

 Initially we do trend analysis with our composited file.

Note: In the location field browse your composite file and put the respective description field in which
you have extracted radical values during compositing.
Note; in this co-ordinate constraints you can choose X or Y or Z. Here I have considered a particular EW
(1230) section with 30 m influence each side. And in the Max Z and Min Z we need to put our elevation
range.

RESULT: In this CSV format we are getting minimum and maximum grade values for each elevation
range.
STEP II: Perform the trend analysis for exported radical values of the block model in the string file
format by using the same section and elevation ranges.
RESULT: In this CSV format we are getting minimum and maximum grade values for each elevation
range.
From both result files we can see the variation in grade for each elevation range.

Comparing both the CSV files we can generate graphs to compare the composited and estimated values
as shown below.
