Positive Effects of Religion Editorial Cartoon Explanation:

1. This first illustration shows the positive effects of religion on people in the society such as it
provides a sense of structure, gives people something to believe in, and offers a group of
people to connect with over similar beliefs. Moreover, religion also teaches people to commit
goodwill and other moral values through its sacred books as seen from my illustration that
shows Jesus Christ guiding a child to perform good deeds. Religion is really important
because it gives people’s lives meaning and purpose that might reduce our fear of the
unknown.

2. However, there are also negative effects of religion as explained by my illustration such as it
causes discrimination among people, bigotries, division in the society, and prejudices to each
side. Furthermore, It is also often claimed that religion causes conflict and war. It is accurate
that sometimes deeply held beliefs can lead to clashes, and there have been many wars that
were caused by disputes over religion and beliefs in history. An example of this was the
Crusades from 1095 AD- 1492 AD. Nevertheless, I illustrate devil hand puppets the three
monotheistic religions to emphasize that they are just being manipulated to hate each other
and cause conflicts.
