Nature vs.

Nurture

Given that both nature and nurture influence the development of a person, I think that
nature determines the outcome of the development of a person more than the nurturing
environment. Because the first thing I thought of when I read the “Introduction to UTS-1.pdf”,
was that there are people and animals in the world that are born with either deficiency or
sufficiency. If I were born to have less or more than the supposed numbers of chromosomes
required for a human to be considered “normal”, then that would mean my development will
either progress or be hindered. If you remove the factors that the nurturing aspect provides,
you are still left with the biological aspect which you have had first when you were born. I think
the biological aspect of development is pre-determined by genetics and therefore more
important than that of the nurturing environment.

Although I am not implying that all beings born with deficiency or sufficiency, will
automatically be better or worse than each other. I have met people with deficiencies that
excel in other aspects of life more than those to be considered “normal”. I have also met
people with sufficiency to be bad at something and fail miserably in other aspects of life. This is
because they are still influenced by their nurturing environment, some of them were genuinely
cared and supported for by their family and friends, while some are unlucky to be put in an
abusive environment. Development from nurture happens overtime every time we grow older
meeting other people with different beliefs and different ways of living life.
