ENGLISH 10 – ESSAY WRITING

TOPIC : WHAT ARE YOU REALLY GOOD AT?

Personal hobbies are common for everyone and are often tackled through interest or for
relaxation, however, a lot of people tend to learn more in order to improve their skills in their
hobby and turn it into their own field of expertise. Though it is not uncommon, I found myself
genuinely interested in creative hobbies, such as visual art, literature, and especially
programming.

Although at first, I was only interested in visual arts such as drawing, but over the course of
quarantine I started expanding my hobbies through writing and learning how to code for
games. I may not consider myself extremely knowledgeable in coding, but I find it enjoyable,
productive, and a great way to spend my free time. This also applies for literature, though I’ve
only started recently and I’m not an expert at it, I find it relaxing to write, as well as doing
research for references and insight for my writing. As for visual arts, I found myself interested in
it ever since I was a child, and have been practicing to get where I currently am. I don’t consider
them natural talents, as I have worked hard to improve these skills, and discovered them as I
grew up. I find that even though these may only be simple hobbies of mine, they are important
to who I am as a person and that I must make an honest effort when it comes to learning and
getting familiar with these kinds of skills.

Personally, I think that while my natural talents may have influenced my liking for these
hobbies, it was my interest and effort that made me content with my talents and that I always
keep in mind to put in hard work and enthusiasm when it comes to hobbies and skills that I
want to learn about.
