Topic: Sugarcane harvester machine

The Philippines was ranked as the ninth-largest sugar producer in the world in
2005, as well as the second-largest sugar supplier in the Association of Southeast
Asian Nations (ASEAN). It is not new to the Philippines, as the country's sugar cane
sector has historically flourished under large sugarcane farms boosting economic
growth. One of the keys to maintain the country's standing as a sugar exporter is to be
globally competitive by increasing productivity, but harvesting sugar canes requires a lot
of manpower (for manual operations) and is a time-consuming process. There are
existing mechanized sugar cane harvester machines today, but their price is not friendly
for most small-scale farmers and effective only for large-scale production. With this, the
project aims to design and build a low-cost sugarcane harvesting machine to reduce
farmers’ effort and boost agricultural product production.
