Evidence can be imported in large boxes, clothing… Drugs can also be hidden in human bodies such

as cavities or even the smuggler might swallow them but in a way that he would preserve them.

If the evidence is to be presented in court, it is important that it is properly documented. The

evidence may be in the form of pills, powders, liquids, botanical matter (seeds, leaves,
mushrooms), crystals (methamphetamine), or imbedded in food, paper, or candy. Other
evidence can be found on clothing, objects, or liquid-soaked fabrics. Biological evidence
from sus- pects can include urine, blood, sweat, or saliva.

Correct packaging of the evidence is important to preserve the evidence and protect those individuals
working with the evidence. To prevent mold and contamination, all plant matter (marijuana) or any wet
items (blood-stained clothing) should be dried and placed in paper bags and not plastic. Syringes with
needles should be placed in a glass container labeled “biohazard.” Many agencies have their own specific
protocol for the proper collection of manufacturing goods from drug labs.
