A Box of Faith
As they say, everything happens for a reason, for
the experience or a lesson. ‘A Box of Faith’ is a Christian
film written and directed by Auturo Gavino, and was
released in 2015. The main character of the movie, Dior,
was portrayed by Savanah McMahon together with Bill
Wetherill as Dior’s father, Tim, and Julie Van Lith as Ms.
Ward, the social worker. The film has a very
heartwarming plot that applies the concept of faith and
reflects how important it is to believe in the process of
God no matter what.
Dior is a 16-year old girl whose mother died due to
an unmentioned illness and whose father became
imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Recently
orphaned, Dior run away from their motel after she
found out that Ms. Ward, a social worker, is looking for
her to put her in custody. She stayed in her father’s
storage room where she met a companion named Futt
(dog) and tried to survive her dilemma through a
powerful connection with God. Every night before going
to bed, Dior writes a letter to God, tapes it on the ceiling,
and believes that it will be granted. With Ms. Ward
desperate to find Dior, they subsequently started
exchanging notes to each other where Dior addressed
that she is doing fine and she does not need her help. By
and by, Dior met another homeless girl named Emma
who later on betrayed her. Soon, all the conundrum
came to an end and miracles of God took place which
made Dior’s life better.
 With her positive outlook and strong faith in God,
Dior is truly an amazing paradigm for people who suffer
from the burdens of life. I love how the director
designed Dior as a smart, resourceful, and kind-hearted
young lady. After watching the movie, I found myself
crying because I too can relate to the story of Dior. My
mother works abroad and oftentimes my father is not
home, so life is between me and my 9-year old brother.
I remember being independent at a young age and
stood up against the hardships on my own. Sometimes, I
think about giving up but with faith that everything will
be better soon, here I am still fighting with the
challenges of life. This movie changed the way I see life.
It gave me a clear perspective that God has plans for
me and I should never give up no matter what. Dior
inspires me to look for beauty even in the darkest times.
She proved that where there is a will, there is a way
with the help of God. This movie is a masterpiece, I
highly recommend watching it.
‘A Box of Faith’ is a thoroughly interesting story that
excellently demonstrates the concept of faith, kindness,
and not giving up. Overall, it is a very well directed
Christian film that will surely melt the watchers' hearts. I
was not emotionally prepared for this movie which
made it very worth the watch. ‘A Box of Faith’ is a great
movie that will remind everyone that God has plans for
us, all we have to do is to believe and never give up.
