THREE MOVEMENTS FOR A SOLO DANCER ~ Marimba Solo ~ Eckhard Kopetzki HoneyRock 396 Raystown Road Everett, PA 15537 USA~ THREE MOVEMENTS FOR A SOLO DANCER ~ ORIGINALLY written for a 4 1/3 octave marimba, Three Movements for a Solo Dancer, can be readily adapted to a 5 octave marimba as well. In the second and third movements, the player sometimes has to strike the frame of the marimba simultaneously while playing with the left hand. If utilizing a 5 octave marimba, these passages can either be played one octave lower or the performer can mount a small percussion instrument (e.g. woodblock, "jam" block, ete.) on stand over, or on, the marimba, Imagine a dancer, clacking with his shoes on the floor. Eckhard Kepetaki BORN in 1956 in Hannover, Germany, Eckhard Kopetzki studied at the University of Osnabriick and the Hochschule fiir Musik in Wurzburg with Prof. Siegfried Fink, He currently teaches music theory and percussion at the Berufsfachschule fiir Musik in Sulzbach, in Rosenberg, Bavaria, RENOWNED for his numerous contributions to the performance literature for percussion/chamber groups, his compositions appear in the catalogs of the European publishers Norsk Forlag/Oslo, Zimmermann/Frankfurt and Ineke Busch Verlag/Stuttgart. IN 2002 his composition Canned Heat won the 1st place prize in the Percussive Arts Society Composition Contest - Percussion Solo category - and is published by Southern Music Company.
