Koshino House
The site of the Koshino
house is located within a
densely populate suburb of
Osaka Japan.

From the interior, views have

been designed to focus
attention to the wooded
area of the site, and creates
a rural aesthetic.

While the modern concrete

forms dominate the site,
they maintain a delicate
balence with the open
space located on the lower
potion of the site.

This rendering illustrates the
simplicity in the design and
interior aesthetic. Natural
elements (concrete, wood,
steel) serve as the primary
elements inside and out.

The experience of the Koshino
house is one of light and
shadow. The architect was very
deliberate in his placement
of windows and skylights to
control the amount of light in
the building.

The quality of light is equally

important to the experience
of the Koshino house. Most
glazing faces East or South while
skylights wash the northern
walls turning the interior into a
giant sundial.

This rendering illustrates the

quality of light on a winter
morning.

The courtyard between the
main house and guest house
creates a crevasse that like the
interior space, is dominated by
the contras of light and shadow.
