Quality Function Deployment


One of the management methods, namely Quality Function Deployment or QFD, is a method used
to ensure that the product is made according to what is needed by the customer, usually it is related to good
quality. However, in this method, it is not only good quality that is prioritized but every product
development must be adjusted by maximizing customer satisfaction, both the level of product quality and
the suitability of the product to the customer. The QFD method focuses on every product development there
is customer involvement as early as possible to make it easier to achieve customer satisfaction, so it can be
said that the QFD method can indirectly help companies to reduce the production costs of a product because
the QFD method can help reduce design time by 40% and design costs by 60% and in this case at the same
time maintaining and improving the design quality of a product. In detail, the Quality Function Deployment
method can be described as follows:
1. QFD is a design process that is carried out in response to customer needs.
2. As the implementation of a management system in producing a company product that comes from
the translation of every need from customers.
3. In carrying out the management process the QFD method allows companies to prioritize their
customers.
4. This method can create new innovations for the company's products that come from customer
feedback.
5. Every management process in this case continues to be improved until it reaches a high level of
effectiveness.
6. The QFD process can create a company that continues to grow in the future with improvements
that allow a company to exceed customer expectations.
