Summary

Let me heal your heart a bit with this alternative ending :)

I got the permission from word couture to post this here.

Its my first ever story and englisch isn't my first language... So please have some mercy
with me

Notes

After reading wonder and talking to a lot of people I felt like I'm not the only one who
needs some sort of healing.
Wonder is a beautiful piece of art and I love it so so much but it also broke my heart.
Reading the second part inspired me to write this short story. (link to Wonder at the bottom
of that story)

It's been so many years after the last ship has left the earth.

Jungkook never stopped believing that Jimin is still alive, that he somehow made it out of that
place, somehow managed to survive everything.

In all those years he kept his name for himself. Never told anyone about their story. Jungkook
wanted his precious memories of his only person for himself.

He never stopped thinking about him since the day he had to live without him. In fact not a single
day passed by, without him thinking at least once about those long gone days. He somehow got
used to the pain of missing him and thinking about their past keeps Jimin alive in his heart.

But seeing them both lying on that roof, staring at the stars and talking about which star they want
to go to hurts...

"We can go to your star" those words are stuck on his mind since that day.

"I'm here now. I'm at your star. But where are you?" he sometimes finds himself saying...

He sees them both sitting on that dust-covered basement floor, showing Jimin his favorite
book."Gardening for Dummies" was, what made Jungkook fall in love with those cherry blossoms.
He now has a whole garden full of cherry trees and he often wonders if Jimin will ever gonna see
them.

But the most hurtful memory is the one of the moment he understood what had happened, when
they said "He didn't make it onto the ship". The moment he realized he won't see him again. The
moment he heard Jimins breathing getting weaker. He tries to push those memories to the very
back of his mind. It hurts… It hurts so badly imagine Jimin lying on that couch, all by himself. He
must have been scared. Jimin had always been afraid of the dark and that night it wasn't only the
darkness but also being alone on a whole planet… Not knowing what happens next.

"I'm scared…"

Jungkook can still hear Jimins voice. It's like those words keep replaying in his head and he can't
do anything about it.

During all those years Jungkook did a lot of researches on how to contact planets, that are as far
away as the earth. He failed many times but he never gave up… He never gave up the thought that
one day he could talk to Jimin or even see him again, if he sticks to the hard work. Time passes but
then he finally got a signal. It wasn't very strong but it was stable enough to last.

"Hello?" he first whispers into the radio set.

Not sure if there's someone on the other side that could actually hear him.

"Hello? Can someone hear me?"

Jungkook doesn't want to give up. He repeats the same question for almost 4 hours. And he does
the same thing the next day, and the next and the next...but he never gets any respond.

His heart starts to ache… What if he was wrong all the time? What if Jimin didn't make it?what
if…

He tries to contact the earth for 2 weeks now but still nothing happens. Day 14 passes without any
respond. This evening he goes to bed… not sure if to continue. It seems hopeless… He feels
helpless. His mind plays every possible scenario before he finally falls asleep.
In the middle of the night he startles from sleep. Hearing someone talking…. A quiet voice but yet
loud and familiar enough to wake him up immediately.

"Is this? No! That's not possible!" he shakes his head in disbelieve.

"I must have dreamed it" Jungkook tells himself.

He quickly shakes off the thought of him hearing Jimin.

"Hello?" the voice asks again.

This time louder than before. Jungkooks eyes widen… He can't believe what's happening. Is this
possible? He knows this voice. He knows it so damn well… it is Jimin. He can hear him. It's his
Jimin. His only person.

Before thinking twice he jumps out of his bed, almost dripping over some clothes infront of his
bed. He runs up to the radio set, grabbing the microphone.

"Ji-Jimin? Is this you?" he asks completely out of breathe.

The air feels thick. Minutes pass without any respond and Jungkook starts asking himself if he
maybe did dream it. If his mind plays him tricks cause he misses him so much.

"Jun-Jungkook?Hello?"

They both can't believe whats happening.

"Yes! Yes! It's me! Omg you are alive!I am here! I am here!"

Tears starting to run down Jungkook's cheaks.

"I thought you gonna pick me up,huh?" Jimin tries to joke it off but his voice cracks immediately
and he starts to cry. Only his sobbs are hearable now.

"Please don't cry! Stop crying… please..." is the only thing Jungkook manages to say before he as
well starts crying.

After minutes full of tears and realizing what happens they both managed to calm a bit down.

They spend the whole night talking and Jimin tells him how he managed to turn back on the
oxygen generator. He tells him how he woke up in the middle of the night hearing an awfully loud
alarm. They indeed switched of the generators but the warning system was still active and so Jimin
got warned before it was too late. He tells him how he remembered that they both once sneaked
around the area and how they found out about the room with all those machines in it. Jimin went
back to that room and switched all the generators back on.

Jungkook quietly listens to every single word Jimin says. Trying to push away those guilty feelings
of leaving him behind.

Jimin tells him about those uncountable tries to build a shuttle himself and how he is finally almost
done with it.

Jungkooks sobbs getting quieter.

"So you are coming to our star?" he asks.

"Yes! Yes I am! I'm coming to our star!" Jimin says.

"When? When will you be here? You have no idea how much I've missed you! I've spend every
single minute finding a way to…"

"Jungkook?" Jimin interrupts him

"Why didn't you come back? You promised to come back… You promised to pick me up. I was
so scared…" Jimins voice cracks.

"I wanted to… Oh believe me I wanted to pick you up so badly. But they told me they can't...they
can't go back. This radio signal was the only thing they could give us!" Jungkook tries to explain.

"You knew about the oxygen generators, didn't you?" Jimin tries to get his sobbs under control.

"Yes…"

"That's why you told me to sleep, right?"

"Yes…" Jungkook starts crying again

"Shhhh don't cry, baby! It's ok. I'm coming to you! My ship is almost ready! I'm coming to you!
Please don't cry!"

One week of constantly working on his ship passes and now it is ready to leave the earth… it
takes him 3 month but then he finally reaches its destination. They both had contact the whole
time so Jungkook knows when Jimin will arrive. His excitement getting stronger with each day
that passes. How much has Jimin changed? What will it be like, seeing him again after so many
years? Will he blame him for not coming back?

Jungkook stands in front of that landing spot, waiting for Jimins ship to arrive… he's almost
fainting, feeling his heart beating way too fast, trying to hold back his tears. And then he finally
sees Jimins ship… he wants to run over so badly but the security guard is holding him back.
Telling him, he has to wait till it stands still.

5 more minutes and Jimins ship has landed. The doors open. A few seconds more and Jungkook
sees Jimin stepping out on the stairs. Jimin looks around and their eyes meet for the very first time
after all those years.

That's when Jungkook can't hold himself back anymore. He starts running. He runs like he never
run in his entire life. Scared of the thought Jimin could disappear before he reaches him. That all of
this was just a beautiful dream.

They both fall into each other's arms. Holding as thight as they can. Scared how unreal this all
seems. They both start crying.

"I've missed you so badly!" Jungkook manages to say.

Almost inaudible underneath all those sobbs.

"I'm here now! I'm here! We are together! We are at our star! And it's beautiful!You are beautiful"

Jungkook let's go of their hug.. They are still standing face to face. He lifts up Jimins chin with his
hand. Eyes meeting again. Oh, how he had missed those beautiful eyes... Holding a whole galaxy
in it.
"Promise me you won't ever go away again" he says before their lips finally meet…

"I promise" Jimin whispers in between their kisses.
